US Tariffs
UPDATE 25 SEP 25
It's been about a month of monitoring now and customers have reported no delays and no additional charges. So, feel free to keep ordering from us if you are from the United States.
(and bear in mind, if you see a site starting with a "US" prefix and the branding looks slightly off, like this screenshot, it's not our site - it's been cloned and we are issuing a takedown notice).

UPDATE 11 SEP 25
The skinny:
- No tariff charges
- We will ship PDDP (duty paid by us, the sender)
- Please go ahead to place your orders
The full fat:
Following the introduction of the Tariffs on 28th August, our understanding is that films have zero percent import tariffs (we have checked the HTS code for blurays on the US International Trade Commission website).
We ship via Royal Mail, the UK national postal carrier (equivalent of USPS) who are subject to different processes than commercial couriers (e.g. fedex or UPS or commercial freight). As such our parcels are being cleared with the same time-frame as normal.
Additionally, we are shipping via a new service known as PDDP - duty paid. This means that the sender (us) will pay for any duty arising. For this service Royal Mail have added an additional 50p per order WHICH WE WILL ABSORB (making life as easy as possible for you).
Based on a handful of customers feeding back about their deliveries, items are arriving promptly and they are not being asked to pay any additional charges (such as handling fees or duty).
So the message is, we will continue to monitor shipments, and we would welcome you posting about your experience below in the comments, or email us, and for now, please continue to place your orders as normal
If the situation changes we will send an update.
Original post 04 APR 25
To all our friends in the United States,
Following the announcement that the US will impose a 10% tariff on goods imported from the UK, please be aware that additional tariff charges will most likely have to be paid by you to US Customs before they release your order to you.
This will also mean a possible longer time-frame to receive your parcel, versus currently, whilst the customs operations process your order.
We are unsure at this stage how this will be enforced and collected, how the impact plays out and so we cannot advise further.
We can advise though, unfortunately, that we cannot bear the cost of any import duties (already stated in our Shipping Policy) and therefore the customer will have to pay import duties (in any country, not just the United States).
Let's all monitor this situation closely and please do send any feedback to us (or leave comments in this post) if you HAVE been hit with any additional fees for your order from us, in the coming weeks and months.
Thank you for your understanding and support, and thank you for shopping with Terracotta.

Movies, books, cd’s… pretty much all media forms and in any amount are exempted from tariffs thanks to being “informational materials” described in 9903.01.22, 9903.01.12, 9903.01.03, and 9903.01.31. These informational materials are protected under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). I will link below. Please note that the fourth question down on this FAQ provided by US Customs is what is important:
“What are informational materials described in 9903.01.22, 9903.01.12, 9903.01.03, and 9903.01.31?”
https://www.cbp.gov/trade/programs-administration/trade-remedies/IEEPA-FAQ [cbp.gov]This is what is stated under the fourth question as outlined above:
Headings 9903.01.22, 9903.01.12, 9903.01.03, and 9903.01.31 describe informational materials, including but not limited to, publications, films, posters, phonograph records, photographs, microfilms, microfiche, tapes, compact discs, CD ROMs, artworks, and news wire feeds. Goods properly classified under the following headings and subheadings of the HTSUS may qualify for the exception under 9903.01.22, 9903.01.12, 9903.01.03, and 9903.01.31: Chapter 49; goods provided for in headings 3704, 3705, 3706, 5807, 8310, and 9701 through 9705, inclusive; goods provided for in subheadings 6307.90.30, 6307.90.85, 8523.80.10, 8523.29, 8523.41, 8523.49, 9405.61, and 9405.69.
This outlines the applicable protected classes under this rule. Of most importance, not only does it name “films” as a protected class, it also gives the customs heading and subheading 8523.49 as a protected class. This is the code for “optical media” which encompasses movies on Blu-Ray discs.
As long as terracottadistribution does their due diligence and notes “8523.49” in the “goods description” box of the shipping label, their US clientele will either not be charged tariffs, or will easily prove to their regional Post Office that no customs charge is necessary by referring to the above US Customs link I’ve provided.
I was thinking\hoping that de minimus would apply here. I know that exemption has been removed for items shipped from China and Hong Kong, but if it’s being shipped from the UK it should still apply. I’m not a tax\trade expert though, and of course, Trump being Trump, that could change at any second.
I absolutely love what you all do and will continue to support the best I can. I hate what my country is doing as it makes no sense and only hurts the people. Hopefully this madness ends
