I pre-ordered on the strength of the trailers alone, having missed it at the cinema. I was not disappointed.
Keeping this spoiler free, but I'm obviously a fan of this one!
One of the best examples of modern Wuxia and Chinese cinema, blending CG, wire-work and action seamlessly. A rare achievement.
The story is a test of family, friendship and loyalty all woven with heart, passion and humour. It's a breathless adventure from start to finish, so much so I didn't realise how quickly two hours can fly by! The pacing is supurb.
The film looks beautiful from start to finish, brilliant performances from all involved; fantastic direction and cinematography; a score to set the pulse racing; and enough action to keep you on the edhe of your seat. The director was the action choreographer on films like Couching Tiger, The Matrix, One Upon a Time in China II, Kill Bill and many more and it shows. His best film to date.
It's been an outstanding few years for Chinese cinema and this is an absolute favourite: highly recommended!
