AIR DOLL is one of Hirokazu Kore-eda's most poetic and formally daring films - a fable about loneliness and the longing for connection. Nozomi (Bae Doona) is a life-size blow-up doll who one day develops a soul. She begins to experience the world as a living person, taking a job at a video rental store and falling in love with a young colleague (Arata Iura). But her existence is fragile and her origins inescapable, and what begins as a tender fairy tale darkens into something more haunting and profound.

Adapted from a manga by Yoshiie Goda and shot by the great cinematographer Mark Lee Ping-bin (In the Mood for Love), AIR DOLL is a film of ravishing visual beauty.
