Focus Hong Kong Film Festival - Easter Edition
Focus Hong Kong is a new UK film festival dedicated to celebrating the amazing cinema and filmmakers of Hong Kong, from early works to the glory days of its reign as the Hollywood of Asia, through to new and exciting films.
FHK will screen a wide range of new releases and classics, films which are vibrant, exciting, innovative and artistic, and which above all are uniquely Hong Kong.
For its Easter edition, Focus Hong Kong features a fantastic and diverse line-up of films, including the UK premieres of inspirational sports drama I Still Remember, following characters trying to become runners as they face up to challenges in their lives, Beyond the Dream, a sensitive drama dealing with mental illness, winner of multiple awards and the highest-grossing domestic film in Hong Kong in 2020, and romance drama My Prince Edward, one of the most acclaimed Hong Kong films of recent years, starring Stephy Tang. For its classics strand, the festival has selected Throw Down, legendary director Johnnie To's 2004 martial arts homage to the great Japanese director Akira Kurosawa, and Once Upon a Time in China, Tsui Hark and Jet Li's legendary 1991 martial arts epic, which is still considered one of the best genre films of all time, both presented in full 1080p and sourced from 4K restorations.
The programme also includes award-winning transgender drama Tracey, the first of its kind from Hong Kong, presented with our partners Queer East, plus the festival also features a free to view selection of short films from the Hong Kong Fresh Wave Competition, renowned as the hothouse for future talent in the Hong Kong industry.
