New Releases From Eureka

Eureka is a label which continues to go from strength-to-strength, releasing some of the best titles in the Asian movie market at the moment. That's not to say the others aren't, but if this was an egg and spoon race, Eureka are winning.
Just look at these forthcoming titles. Hard to pick a favourite, so will pick 'em all. 

Samurai Wolf

A duo of chanbara masterpieces from one of the genre’s greatest directors, Hideo Gosha! Out of a desire to make what he felt was a truly no-holds-barred sword-fighting film, Gosha took inspiration from the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa as well as the spaghetti Western sub-genre they had inspired. Working with a low budget to free himself from the restrictive oversight of his producers, the result was Samurai Wolf and Samurai Wolf II, which tell the story of a charismatic ronin named Kiba (played by Isao Natsuyagi).

 

When Taekwondo Strikes

Queen of Kung Fu Angela Mao and King of Taekwondo Jhoon Rhee join forces in this action-packed Hong Kong classic!

In Japanese occupied Korea, resistance leader Lee (Rhee) is captured by the Japanese occupying forces. To rescue him, his pupil Jin (Carter Wong, The Skyhawk) must get help from a Hapkido expert (Mao). Together they fight their way through an army of Japanese villains played by a number of genre favourites including Hwang In-shik (Way of the Dragon), Kenji Kazama (The Streetfighter) and Sammo Hung (The Millionaires’ Express).

 

Kung Fu Cult Master

 

One of director Wong Jing’s most under-appreciated films is this wuxia extravaganza based on Jin Yong’s The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. While warring martial arts sects fight over a pair of mythical swords that grant great power, Zhang Wuji (Jet Li) goes on a quest to become a great martial artist and end the conflict.

 
FEARLESS SHAOLIN

Four Shaolin kung fu action films directed by Joseph Kuo: SHAOLIN KUNG FU, THE SHAOLIN KIDS, 18 BRONZEMEN and THE RETURN OF THE 18 BRONZEMEN.

DEADLY MASTERS

Four kung fu action films directed by Joseph Kuo: THE 7 GRANDMASTERS, THE 36 DEADLY STYLES, THE WORLD OF DRUNKEN MASTER and THE OLD MASTER in a two-disc blu ray set.

THE ROYAL TRAMP

An epic two-part wuxia-comedy based on the writings of acclaimed Chinese novelist Jin Yong, the ROYAL TRAMP films star Stephen Chow as a cowardly bard who finds himself taking part in a real adventure when he is inducted into a sect of revolutionaries. 

CASINO RADIERS

An early entry in the Hong Kong gambling film cycle of the ’80s and ’90s, Casino Raiders injects the genre with a dose of bloody mayhem courtesy of directors Jimmy Heung and Wong Jing.

THE FALL OF AKO CASTLE

Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale) brings together an ensemble cast, including two icons of Japanese cinema – Toshiro Mifune (Seven Samurai) and Sonny Chiba (The Street Fighter) – for this samurai epic, a retelling of the classic story of the 47 Ronin.
