What is Region Code?

If you are unfamiliar with what Region Code means, please read through the below BEFORE making your purchase.

Please check your player region. Many customers have multi-region players since there are so many great Asian Cinema blu-ray and DVD releases coming out of Europe, Asia and North America.

 

Blu-ray Region Codes explained

Blu-ray Disc™ media have region codes written in letters to indicate a particular zone or region where you can play the discs. Check the following region codes below :

  • Region A: North America, South America, U.S. Territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia
  • Region B: Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Region C: Asia (except for Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia)
  • Region ABC : Classified as region-free as it applies to countries listed in Regions A, B, and C.

The region code for films sold on the Terracotta Distribution website is shown near to the top of the film's page or within the description, below the synopsis.

Multi-region blu-ray players can play blu-ray discs from any region.

 

DVD Region Codes explained

These are the DVD region codes:

  • Region 0 - ALL REGION
  • Region 1 - Canada, the United States and U.S. territories.
  • Region 2 - Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland.
  • Region 3 - Southeast Asia, and East Asia (including Hong Kong).
  • Region 4 - Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean.
  • Region 5 - Eastern Europe, Russia, the Indian Subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia.
  • Region 6 - China.
  • Region 7 - reserved for unspecified special use.
  • Region 8 - Special international venues for air and oceanic travel.

Multi-region DVD players can play DVD discs from any region.

 

What about 4K UHD?

4k UHD discs have no region code BUT you would require a 4k player to play the disc (this will not work on a blu-ray or DVD player).
