Third Window Films to release Gakuryu Ishii's THE BOX MAN on bluray

Japanese black comedy THE BOX MAN, directed by Gakuryu Ishii (formerly Sogo Ishii CRAZY THUNDER ROAD, BURST CITY) to be released on bluray 30th June by boutique bluray label Third Window Films with a special "box" packaging slipcase. Limited to only 2,000 copies.

Synopsis:

A man with a cardboard box over his head wanders the streets of Tokyo. Peering at the world through a peephole, he incessantly writes down in a notebook what he can see.

The photographer, Myself, spots the man and is fascinated. He decides to do the same thing and become a box man himself. But his path to get there is not easy; countless challenges and dangers lie in wait. They include a fake doctor who wants to rob him of his box-man identity; a military man who seeks to use him for the perfect crime; and a mysterious woman who does everything she can to seduce him.

Can Myself achieve his dream of becoming a box man?

Given the unique product packaging of this title, and the trend of Third Window Films picking up unusual and quirky overlooked films that have become big hits and cult film collectors "must-haves" (see ONE CUT OF THE DEAD and more recently A SAMURAI IN TIME for examples), this is quite likely a release that physical media collectors will want to get their hands on.

Preorder THE BOX MAN limited edition now on the Terracotta store.
