After Bruce Lee's tragic passing, there was a rush to find a new kung fu king, and one of the contenders was a young lad called Jackie Chan. New Fists of Fury was the first film to show what the future megastar could do, as the street kid who learns martial arts at the New Jingwumen school, to stand up to the bullying Japanese occupiers (his teacher is played by legendary Shaw Brothers actress Nora Miao, no less).
An update-cum-remake of Bruce Lee's original Fists of Fury from the same director (Lo Wei), New Fists of Fury is a vital step on the path to Project A and Police Story. 88 films are proud to present this early example of the Chan goodness on Blu-ray disc.

If you're looking to run through the back catalogue Jackie Chan's film career, New Fist of Fury is a great place to start. It's one of his first lead roles, and although this isn't Jackie quite as we know him yet, there's plenty in this movie to enjoy. To be completely honest, I'd argue Jackie is the fourth best character (after the lead women and the main villain), but he delivers in the climax of the film. It's very enjoyable overall, and I'd definitely recommend.
