Great movie. I love having a hard copy I can watch whenever I want. It nicely edited. It looks great. Plus, the sheer breadth of genres! I am in heaven right about. I will definitely order more.
Bit more gritty than John Woo’s heroic bloodshed movies, City on Fire is an absolute classic. Arrow’s disc looks great and has some neat extras - the essay in the booklet is especially comprehensive. Terracotta service is always good, packed really well.
All four movies here are highly enjoyable, especially the first (and third too really). It's a lot of fun from start to finish.
Three great 80s Hong Kong comedies here all in one package. The chemistry between the actors is great, but I would definitely say this is more so for Sammo fans than Jackie!
Big change of pace for Jackie - this is a romantic movie above all else, but the fight scenes between Jackie and Brad Allen were pretty good. Feels like a live action Disney movie tbh!
Still beautiful to watch, with excellent plotting, superb acting. Easy to see why this is considered one of the most influential kung fu films of all time.
Pang Ho-cheung's films have not always been released or promoted outside of Hong Kong and East Asia, particularly for Western audiences. Love in a Puff, Dream Home, and Vulgaria, are probably some of his best known titles. Thanks then to Third Window for putting this title out there, and showing UK audiences that Danny Dyer and the Carry On franchise, and American sex comedies, don't have a monopoly over salacious jokes. Yes, not every joke may land, but if you want something different, and your not easily offended, give this a go. Especially because, now in 2025, it looks like this sort of film may not even be made in Hong Kong any more.
Film quality was great. The extras and video essays were top notch. Thoroughly reccomend for J-Horror lovers
