Wong Kar Wai's IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (2000) is a masterful evocation of romantic longing and fleeting moments.
Hong Kong, 1962: Chow (Tony Leung Chiu Wai, INFERNAL AFFAIRS) and Su (Maggie Cheung AS TEARS GO BY) move into neighbouring apartments on the same day. Over time, their daily interactions are formal and polite—until a discovery about their spouses creates an intimate bond between them.
With its aching soundtrack and exquisitely abstract cinematography by Christopher Doyle and Mark Lee Ping Bing, this film has been a major stylistic influence on the past two decades of cinema, and is a milestone in Wong’s redoubtable career.

FAQs
I was fortunate enough to receive this DVD as a gift from Terracotta for a review that I submitted for a previous purchase.
And what a enjoyable movie it turned out to be.Not a love story fan as such, but for me it turned out to be a treat.
The setting takes place in early 60s Hong Kong, in a very tired looking apartment block and involves two people who's respective partners are playing away from home. They gradually become intensely involved with each other, soon complications come into play creating unease pain and sadness, but always longing for love.
During a magnificent array of colors and excellent camera angle work the relationship continues.
I personally was very impressed with the couple's expressions, their thoughts and paused reactions with concentration on timing.
A film worthy to watch a few times more to spot the rich background detail that you miss when you're watching their performance, not just the detail but photography, music and a magical atmosphere throughout.
It's a movie not just to watch but listen,to feel and to sense.
